The Press Release made by Nature's Head Europe on 30 October 2007.
The compact, user-friendly product gives boat owners the opportunity to eliminate direct discharge of sewage into the environment, representing an affordable, space-saving and odour-free alternative to installing a holding tank. “Doing the right thing for the environment can often seem awkward, difficult or expensive, but not in this case,” says Jim Brodie, partner in the Edinburgh-based business and a keen sailor himself. Nature’s Head works by separating liquid from solid waste and solids are then mixed into a bed of compost. One fill of compost usually lasts a whole boating season with weekend use or about a month for live-aboard couples. Retailing at £575, Nature’s Head is easy to install and has little or no requirement for external power, depending on options chosen by the individual user. Nature’s Head Europe was formed in October 2007 by husband and wife team Jim and Sonja Brodie to bring Nature’s Head composting toilet to the European market and thereby help to curb pollution from recreational boating. Nature’s Head is made in Ohio, USA, and was launched to American consumers in May 2007. |
