If the solids haven’t had time to decompose fully, the proper place to empty the solids tank is in a composting bin.

If the solids are fully decomposed, they can be bagged up and disposed of in a normal rubbish bin or, after about three months, used as fertilizer. Boaters may empty theirs overboard if they are the proper distance offshore. The liquid tank can be emptied into a toilet or overboard if offshore.
